The 2010 Winter Olympics, formally the XXI Olympic Winter Games is also known as the 21st Winter Olympics, will be a most important universal multi-sport occasion that will be held on February 12–28, 2010, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Some of the events will be played in the resort town of Whistler, British Columbia and in the Vancouver neighborhood of Richmond. Pursuing Olympic ritual, the then Vancouver mayor Sam Sullivan acknowledged the Olympic flag at the closing function of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy.
